2008 TRB 87th Annual Meeting - A paper titled "The Less-than-perfect Driver: A Model of Collision-inclusive Car-following Behavior" was presented by one of our senior traffic engineers, Wuping Xin,   - Washington, DC - January 17, 2008, Session #755, Session Title: Car Following Behavior and Collision Risk" at the Marriott, Delaware A.

KLD Associates, Inc. received a Platinum Award for Engineering Studies at the ACEC New York Reception and Dinner Dance on March 31st at the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf  Astoria Hotel in Manhattan.  The award was presented for the “Evacuation Time Estimates Study - Indian Point Energy Center; Buchanan, NY.”  Three KLD employees - all ITE members - were honored: Reuben Goldblatt, Ed Lieberman, and Kevin Weinisch.

The Indian Point Energy Center (IPEC) is a vital part of New York’s energy infrastructure. The development of evacuation time estimates is part of the overall emergency planning effort at IPEC. KLD Associates Inc. completed the most comprehensive study of evacuation issues at IPEC ever undertaken. The work performed at Indian Point has been extensively reviewed by federal, state, and local agencies and is being used as a template to define the current “State of the Art” in evacuation planning for all US nuclear power plants.

We are very proud to announce that Edward Lieberman, Senior Vice President for Federal Systems, was honored by the Transportation Research Board at its 86-th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, in January, 2007.  He received the Traffic Simulation Pioneer Award for his “pioneering and continued efforts in Traffic Simulation starting with DYNET in 1968, UTCS-1 in 1970, SCOT in 1972, NETSIM in 1973, and TRAFLO in 1977."

We are proud to announce that Kevin Weinisch, a traffic engineer on our staff, received ITE's Young Consultant's Award.

He was honored as a guest of ITE at the Honorees Reception and Dinner that was held at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Milwaukee, WI, in August, 2006.
