CISS Data Collection

CISS data collection methodology revolves around the use of specialized equipment for reliable and accurate documentation. The primary data collection tool is the Nikon Total Station. This device uses sensitive laser technology to provide hyper-accurate documentation of crash data in three dimensions. All of KLDs Crash Technicians are equipped with a Total Station.

At crash scenes, the Total Station measures the physical plant and evidence, and uploads the measurements into the drawing application to automatically construct a scale diagram of the crash.

Similarly, vehicle damage is measured and uploaded onto a vehicle template created to scale within scene diagram, to accurately depict the damaged vehicles, and calculate the energy absorbed by each vehicles crush profile.
